Hello there!

Welcome to my new web page!

I hope to update here regularly with my creative work.

To start off, here is my current project; a costume for the forthcoming Star Wars Celebration 2023 in April. I decided to create a Padme celebration costume, using scrap organza and chiffon material, including some scraps from making my wedding dress! I don’t have a pattern, I’m just going for it.

I started a week or so ago, so far I have made a few hundred petals, and last night I finished a muslin cloth cloak to attach them to.

I decided to roll edge all the petal hems to make the costume stronger, so that I can wash it and use it again. However, I am new to this technique. I bought a roller foot for my sewing machine, which I wish I knew about before, when making my wedding dress!

Cutting the curve on the petal right seems important for the rolled hem, it seems to not like going above a certain degree of curvature, that I havent identified yet! perhaps more than 30 degrees?

Next step will be to make a few more petals in different colours then attach them to the cloak, which I hope to start this week after work. Wish me luck!
